If you’re in the Army (or stationed with your spouse who is),  you may have heard some pretty negative things about getting stationed at Fort Bragg here in North Carolina.

And, while years ago there may have been reason for these thoughts—today is much different.

Fayetteville, North Carolina has transformed into a diverse hub with fairs, festivals, shows, great restaurants, an upcoming new baseball stadium, and best of all…SHOPPING! In fact downtown Fayetteville is now a go to for locals and out of towners to shop for unique and fun items from local and Veteran/milspouse shop owners.

With the holidays around the corner we know you’ll be looking for great gifts with meaning to give. Because we love all the goodies that Hay St. and it’s surrounding neighbors provide, we’ve asked some of our local retailers to share their top gift recommendations for this holidays season. Cornerstone Design Co.- This amazing shop located at 240 Hay St. is owned by Mike and Tianna Dean and along with great small gifts they specialize in handcrafted farm style furniture and timeless pieces with the hope of encouraging family time and bringing people together. Pressed NC A Creative Space– located at 120 Hay St. was launched by owner Ashley as she begin life here in Fayetteville as a milspouse while her husband served overseas. In addition to the picks below shoppers can find everything from mugs, to stationary, greeting cards, bags, candles, treats and other curated products from local artist/designers in NC and nationwide. A Bit Of North Carolina– located at 306 Hay St is owned by a Veteran military family and specializes in locally made gifts. Some of their items include, wine jellies, local honeys, sauces, tees and more. The great thing is that anything in this store can be combined into a gift basket which is awesome for gift giving. Southern Roots– is located a short drive from the downtown Fayetteville area at 4251 Legion Road in Hope Mills, NC. They are great for one of a kind gifts and sell pieces from local crafters and artisans. This is the perfect place to find a gift no one else has. Follow them on FB here.

The Wine Cafe (also owned by a Veteran family)- located at 108 Hay St offers an incredible selection of handpicked wines to give you a one of a kind experience. They offer many tasting classes, events, gift baskets and other gadgets that make for great gifts this holiday season. Tokyo Retro Gaming Fayetteville– is located at 136 Person St and is for the nostalgic toy and game lover and of course kids. Shoppers will find everything from retro game systems to comics, anime items, all things Japanese pop culture, figurines and so much more. The best part is that many of their items come from Japan. Leclair’s– is located at 1212 Fort Bragg Road and is owned by Patrick Leclair and while not a bar , this place fits the lyrics to the Cheer’s theme song ” Sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your name and they’re always glad you came”. Former Director of Visual Representation at Ralph Lauren NY  and owner Patrick Leclair is all about the family feeling at his store where you’ll find “Coffee, Wine, Craft beer, Vintage decor, Antiques, Art, Jewelry and local goods“. This is a great place to purchase a gift for the person who loves vintage collectibles and decor. Roland’s Dance Studio-located at 310 Hope Mills Rd is a long time fixture in the area. Give the gift of group or couple dance lessons. Dance lessons start at just $15 for 45 minutes.
