NYC is a great place to head any time of year, but it doesn’t come without its cost. Whether your heading there this Summer or during the holiday season we’ve got some a variety of New York City military discounts to help you keep money in your pocket when you visit select attractions. Top Of The Rock
Visit the top of Rockefeller Center and see amazing views of the city from their observatory deck. Military receive half off the normal admission price of $36 and can bring up to 4 people with them who also will receive the same discount. Military discounted tickets must be purchased onsite at the box office window.
Broadway
In addition to the USO which sometimes offers complimentary tickets to shows and discounts, Vet Tix allows military personnel to simply create an account and then apply to receive tickets to hundreds of nationwide events—some of which are Broadway plays. Of course, there’s no guarantee but it can’t hurt to check.
Intrepid Sea Air and Space Museum Complex
Active Duty military and Veterans receive free admission ( with proper ID) when they visit this museum dedicated to the history of the Intrepid aircraft carrier. Current exhibits include the Space Shuttle Pavillion, The British Airways Concorde and so much more. Veterans and their families can also save 20% off individual or family memberships. The museum also provides many free programs to Military and veterans families.
Sea The City
Enjoy the NYC Skyline with jet ski ride around NY Harbor. Military receive 10% off when they book.
Circle Liner
This infamous cruises takes you around NY Harbor and offers a variety of day and night cruises. Military and up to 4 guests receive 50% off admission.
9/11 Museum
Explore and honor the 3000+ Americans killed in the World Trade Center attacks. Additionally, learn about the history of the WTC and much more. Active Duty and retired military receive free admission. Veterans with proper ID receive $6 off the normal price of admission. Reserve your tickets online.
Empire State Building
Military.com reports that the Empire State building offers a deal of $35 admission to the military with proper ID. We are currently in the process of confirming this ourselves. If in uniform you can receive free admission. Tickets must be purchased on the 2nd floor.
Madame Tussauds NYC
Enjoy your favorite celebs and take pictures with their wax figures at the world famous Madame Tussauds Wax museum. Military receive $10 off tickets and there is no max on the number of tickets you can buy.
NYC Museum Of Modern Art
Explore world famous work by the likes of Van Gogh and Andy Warhol. Military and their families receive free admission. Don’t forget Blue Star Families offers free admission to over 2000 museums for military families. See a list of NYC museums here.
NYC City Pass
Military receive 25% off when they purchase their pass through the USO. In addition, having this pass will save you extra money on all kinds of attractions and shows. You can learn more and contact the NY USO here.
USO Complimentary Tickets and Discounts
We called the USO and verified that they offer multiple discounts to military and sometimes even complimentary tickets on shows and more including the Big Bus Tour. You can call their Times Square office for details. The people there are extremely nice.
New York Aquarium
The NYC Aquarium offers a variety of aquatic life exhibits along with free admission for AD or reservist and 50% off admission for up to 3 family members. These tickets must be purchased onsite at their admission booth. Military discounts cannot be used after 3 pm.
The Bronx Zoo
Now, this is a zoo! The Bronx Zoo features exhibits like the Congo Gorilla Forest, The Butterfly Garden, and real baboons and bison plus so much more. Military also receive free admission and 50% off for up to 3 family members. Military discounts cannot be used on Wednesdays.
Madison Square Garden All Access Tour
Take a tour of the most famous arena and home of the NY Knicks. GovX provides a deeply discounted rate on this tour here.
MTA Transit
You’ve got to get around the city somehow. That’s why MTA provides 25% off to military on one-way station fare. This can be used off and on peak.
